Gold Class Qualifications

Qualifications for the Gold Class Professionals program are structured with the collision industry business in mind.

Quarterly status reports provide the needed information for Gold Class businesses to better plan and schedule training throughout the year. The quarterly reports show the business status of a designated location, as well as each employee’s status, for meeting Gold Class requirements at the next renewal date.

Gold Class Professionals Qualifications (Until December 31, 2006):

  • Each employee must complete their position point requirement, OR have earned 5 Gold Class points in the 12 months prior to application or renewal.
  • New employees have a 6-month grace period from their hire date.
  • Promoted employees have a 6-month grace period from their promotion date to meet their new requirements; former point requirements will apply.
  • There is no longer an overall business point requirement!

To help you determine your business’ Gold Class status, job descriptions and Gold Class point requirements are available for most positions within the collision industry.

Gold Class Professionals Qualifications (Effective January 1, 2007):

  • Position-related point requirements no longer apply. Personnel not directly involved in the collision repair process or estimating have no point requirement.
  • For a business to initially qualify for the Gold Class Professionals designation, all employees must have earned 5 tested points. Maintaining the Gold Class Professionals designation will require 2 points of ongoing training annually.
  • All active Gold Class Professionals designated businesses will be grandfathered into the new requirements and will only need to meet annual ongoing training point requirements.
  • If you are currently working towards your Gold Class Professionals qualification, you may want to consider qualifying before January 2007 by using the position-related point requirements. Then, you will only need 2 points of ongoing training annually to maintain the status.

I-CAR Industry Training Alliance

I-CAR developed the Alliance to position Gold Class as an inclusive and universally recognized industry training benchmark. The I-CAR Industry Training Alliance exists to recognize the accomplishments of students’ training through approved training providers.

Gold Class points can now be awarded to those students who attend one of the many approved technical training programs from Alliance members. These points apply toward both the Gold Class and the Platinum Individual programs. All points earned through the Industry Training Alliance are tested. Points earned through the Industry Training Alliance apply to the current position-related Gold Class Professionals and Platinum Individual point requirements, as well as the new requirements for both programs, which go into effect on January 1, 2007.
